Penn-Mar Irish Festival, Shrewsbury PA

Well, yesterday was a good day!  I did my first festival since starting this little venture and we had such a great day!  Thanks to Dana & the rest of  the Penn-Mar staff for being great hosts!  Thank you to all the lovely people who stopped by to browse & purchase my Whimsical Properties and just plain encourage me!   Special thanks to Mom & Dad for feeding me this week, watching my children,  making signs, hauling things, doing my laundry, working the booth  and being really good marketers!  And to my Bill...Happy Father's Day....it was so nice just to relax today...I promise I will remove all pine cones and bits of feathers from the rest of the house this week!  Love you!  Here are some pictures of the day!  P.S.  It's really easy to pack up a booth with the music of the Irish band "The Rovers" playing in the background!

Two wood frames covered with pine cones, moss, etc. makes such better signage than a banner!

I thought it would be nice to offer some bottles of Pixie Dust.....not as easy as I thought...nothing like standing over a pot of boiling wax for a few hours!

Here is one of my display tables!

The display on the right!  Mom was very good at re-organizing when one was sold!

I turned my planters from my front porch upside down so I could have things at different heights!

Thanks to the nice people who run the Maryland Irish Festival for purchasing Little Bird Cottage! See you in November!

"Cinnamon Stick" was sitting on the kids wooden table and chairs that my Dad made and normally sit in his garden.  Man, could I have gotten a lot of money for those!

The fairies in the area must have been please because this bowl of fairy rocks mixed with Pixie Dust was waiting for us the morning of the festival.  All the kids that came to visit go to take one home for good luck!

My favorite "wee" helpers and my daily focus group!

My favorite house, well Irish Pub "The Wee Shamrock" was the first to go!

Paddy's Pad

Please come to the Penn-Mar Irish Festival this Saturday in Shrewsbury, PA and enter to win "Paddy's Pad" a OOAK Fairy House!  This is a great event and I'm so excited to be joining them this year!  Enjoy your tour!

Paddy's Pad is a place is a really cool hangout place for the guys!  It's a little hunting or fishing cabin!

A seed pod lamp on a sewing spool table.

The house is sitting in a fallen tree over a babbling brook.  Fishing anyone?

A view of this circular cabin from above and behind.

The inside of this house is simple - a twig & leaf bed take-up the center of the room.

Dried mushrooms flank the front door and a little gold bell is hanging to the right!

The roof is made of dried moss that my husband peeled off the roof of our lake house!

Claddagh House

Welcome to "Claddagh House" another Irish Fairy House built for the Penn-Mar Irish Festival this Saturday.  The construction of this house was a tough one!  It took hours to figure out how to get the house mounted on the base!  I think the stained glass window in this house makes it a very special piece of course the hidden pot of gold helps too!  Cheers!

Torch at the entrance to the cave underneath the house.

Side view of this beautiful property.

The only access to the house except via your wings is the moss covered staircase.

An aerial view!

The stained glass window makes this a spectacular property it is actually a sun catcher that I found at a flea market!

Light filtering in through the window makes the whole room very cathedral like.

An acorn teapot and candlestick sits on the table near the window.

Just beautiful, but very hard to build.

A view of the stained glass window from the outside.

An added bonus of a pot of gold!

Window box & shutters of bark.  The window box is filled with pink & white baby's breath.

A side view with the hidden pot of gold!

Glenclover

This is a really pretty little house in perfect keeping with the Penn-Mar Irish Festival this weekend!  Enjoy it and please come by the Whimsical Properties booth if you are in the area!

Don't you just want to stop by for a visit?

Tin Altoid bed and a child's nightstand with a candlestick are the main decor in this Irish house.

A shelf mounted on the back wall holds all your treasures.

Take a seat on the handmade bench outside.

The thatched roof is actually dried pine needles with little bits of moss.

I used a lot of these wood shamrocks that I found at a flea market to decorate the exterior.

Yummy....a basket of bread & cheese sitting on the window sill.

Claddagh House is mounted on a round tree stump and looks just beautiful sitting in a field of clover.

Amber Waves

So, my brother Brian an F-15 pilot in the Air Force was home for a few days and after watching my children dole out all the "HERO" worship towards their Uncle for a few days I guess I was inspired to make a patriotic fairy house.  Of course this was not the first time I was inspired by my little brother.  My first fairy dollhouse the "Red, White & Blue Cottage" was made for my niece Amelia while Brian was serving overseas last year!  This is sweet & subtle...I hope you like it!  P.S.   Thanks to Mom for coming up with the name!

The roof of this house is made of stalk of wheat, grain, baby's breath, red & blue berries and two butterflies.

This sofa was made out of wood and a tiny pillow I found in a flea market with the word"Faith" embroidered on it.

Have to have red, white & blue Pixie dust in this house!

Even fairies get mail!

The American Bald Eagle motif on this cage helped with some of the design of this house.

There is a hurricane lamp, a book and a wooden mug sitting on the stone coffee table.

A view from the back of the hosue.

Here you can see the two butterflies flitting around the the roof.

The apple tree was just "the perfect" location for this house.

Nestled in the apple tree.

The blue & white striped hammock bed hanging in the rafters.
