The Willows

I have been working my little fairy fingers to the bone getting properties constructed and furnished for the Spoutwood Farm Faerie Festival in May....Whew!  I've gotten a lot done, but this is the only one I've gotten photographed...Still waiting on some spring gardens to bloom for the others.  This one was good to go since I used the Pussy Willow tree at my parents house as a resource for it's roof and then for it's photoshoot!  Enjoy the tour!

The portico was handcrafted from a piece of wood & Pussy Willow branches.

Here "The Willow" looks like it is growing right out of the Pussy Willow tree from where it's roof origninated.

An aerial view of the beautiful roof and the stone fire pit in the front yard.

A peak at the seed pod bed with sheepskin bedding.

This custom was wood burned and then trimmed in Pussy Willows.

Beside the bed is a sewing spool nightstand and candlestick.

A walnut shell bowl w/ rope & a clothespin.

Another view of "The Willows" sign.

The moss yard is surrounded by a rustic metal fence!

This house has great views!  Love those Pussy Willow branches!

I got a lovely reminder the other day of why I started building fairy houses in the form of a note from a customer on etsy.  Remember to keep the magic alive and spur the imagination in your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other children in your life for as long as you possibly can!

The Nest

My children and I just put out a few new bird feeders in the yard and while we were watching the Bluejays, Cardinals and other little birds swoop in and out of the tree I was inspired to create "The Nest."  I rushed to finish it as the snow started to fall and early the next morning was traipsing through the woods to hang it in a snow covered thicket!  I'm sure that the family of deer that I startled are back in their home by now.

It took a little hiking through a lot of thorn bushes camouflaged by the snow to find this spot...ouch!

This thicket was just so beautiful with the fresh snow.

The birds nest bed hanging in the doomed roof!

A view of the birds nest roof.

The door is framed with feathers and a candle holder and inside you can see the sewing spool table with lamp.

Champagne corks are stools at this table made from a slab of rock mounted on a log.

The cabinet is filled w/ pixie dust, an old locket, dice, key and a sweet little thimble with a bird on the top.

A moss covered rocking chair offers a warm place to sit.

The cage has the sweetest heart & bird motif on the back wall.

Raven's Keep

As a Baltimore Raven fan and after such a fantastic Super Bowl I thought I would have a little fun and make my first "sports" inspired fairy house!  It doesn't have anything sports related other than my description and our team colors of black & purple!  It's my first rather dark house, but I love the gothic feel!  Enjoy it!

The black armoire is filled w/ purple pixie dust, dice and other goodies!

This table is black marble.  The goblets are seed pods, plates are sea glass.

There are 2 sewing spool stools for the table.

Hanging from the domed ceiling is a twig chandelier painted black w/ white birthday candles.

A peak in the side window w/ the purple satin ribbon curtains.

Gothic looking, but elegant!

The arm chair is covered in rich, black fur and a coal bucket filled with flowers sits near the door.

Another view of the chandelier.

The feathers look just beautiful blowing in the breeze!

Candlewood

Oh, the joys of shooting in the winter.  It's cold, I was attacked by sticker bushes, but at least my boots didn't leak as I was wading through the stream to capture images of "Candlewood."  I found this fantastic piece of wood along side the road.  My children thought I was crazy when I turned the car around on this small country road to go pick up the wood....but it's awesome and makes a great statement for this house!  Enjoy your tour!

Candlewood mounted on a fantastic log!

Orange seed pod windows filled with dried flowers.

These steps were made from wood and covered in moss.

A rear view...the steps to the front start back here.

Can you see the cave behind the hammock?

Imagine how peaceful it is to hangout here with the sound of the stream beneath you.

This bed is made from wood, twisted branches and moss. The pillow is a piece of old curtains.

I carved this chair from a piece of wood and the table is a sewing spool.

Antique lace makes the BEST hammocks!

Here is an aerial view!

I carved these steps with a Dremmel - great tool!

Pixie dust hidden in a little nook & cranny!

Imagine how pretty these birthday candle torches look at night.

Doesn't it look great with the torches lit?
